Aanchal, Chandra & Adarsh of Dehli2Dublin

Tell us a bit about yourselves!

Delhi2Dublin is a family food business run by Aanchal, Chandra (Aanchalʼs mother) and Adarsh (Aanchalʼs Husband). Delhi2Dublin specializes in serving Authentic Indian delicacies and Street Food that are not found in most of the Indian eateries in Ireland. We feel proud to say that Delhi2Dublin is the first food business to bring “Parathas - Stuffed flatbread” in Ireland which is immensely loved by people and Delhi2Dublin got featured in the renowned newspapers "The Irish Times", "Irish Independent" and "Dublin InQuirer" for the same. We aim to bring much bigger variety of Street Foods from different regions of India.

What inspired you to start Delhi2Dublin?

Adarsh grew up watching food truck shows and had a dream to start one of his own. When he met

Aanchal in college, we clicked on this common interest to have our own food chain and has been aiming for it since. Then while Chandra, having the experience of cooking specialty Indian dishes for more than a decade, all three of us made the plan to start Delhi2Dublin. Since we came to Ireland, we’ve thoroughly researched the market for the high demand of Indian food and the existing outlets that serve the cuisine. The huge number of Indian food vendors in the Dublin city itself clearly reflects the high demand but personally trying them out, it was observed that the taste of the dishes have been changed according to the palettes of the people here. And this is what motivated us to start Delhi2Dublin and bring the real authenticity from Delhi to Dublin.

What challenges have you faced in setting up your business?

Well, initially when we were researching for a spot to start Delhi2Dublin, we heard a big NO from most markets that we would not be able to get in since there is a huge waiting list for many renowned businesses so there was no way possible a new name can get in. Apart from this there were many processes involved and certifications and inspections and what not, about which we were unaware but were lucky enough to have really helping and really good people to support us.

What brought you to Moore Street Markets?

I can still recall, we were coming back from a food event when I got this email that Delhi2Dublin is invited to the re-launch of Dublin’s oldest market, The Moore Street Market. And I couldn’t explain how happy and excited we were to have gotten this opportunity as when we were students, we used to come to Moore Street Market quite often and now we’ll be there with our own food stall, the feeling was incredible. And since then, we’ve been regulars in The Moore Street Market.

How are you enjoying being a part of the Moore Street family?

We love being part of the Moore Street Market as it has connected Delhi2Dublin to a vast number of customers in and around Dublin city, which is one of the biggest factors helping any business grow. We have gained numerous valuable customers here and thus we feel so grateful to be a part of the Moore Street family.

What is your favourite thing about trading on here on Moore Street?

Our favourite part about trading at Moore Street is the variety of the customers, cheerful atmosphere set up by the various activities organised by the Moore Street Market staff and obviously the vast amount of customer base that Moore Street gives us exposure to.
